New Little Sister

Early in the morning on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1:13am Ellen became a big sister again.  Ellen and her family welcomed Sally into the world.  What a blessing!  We are so excited for you all.  May the Lord continue to bless you as you raise another sweet girl.

Ellen said that she is so happy to have a new little sister.

Christ is the Key

 Sweet families,

Yesterday at church in the morning and evening service we learned about families and obedience from children.  I was so touched that I wanted to share it with you.  I was reminded again of the important tole we play in each child's life.  As soon as the sermon is out on podcast, I will post it on the blog.  Below is the pray from the evening service given by one of the church members.

“Lord, we pray for the children here today– whether they are in elementary school, high school or college.  Maybe today You have reminded them of a time when they haven’t obeyed their parents, and therefore, have dishonored Christ.

We pray that they will honor Christ, by asking for forgiveness and that You will give them the strength to obey their parents.

Parents, maybe something struck you this evening, where you have not been honoring to Christ in disciplining your children. We pray that you ask for forgiveness and for God's grace and help to parent in a way that would honor the Lord.

God, many times our families can be a mess, we confess that when we try to govern our families in our own strength, it doesn’t work; but we humbly acknowledge that we need the Word of Christ to richly dwell in us and the wisdom to know how to teach and admonish one another, especially our children.

Give us homes, Lord, where Christ is King, where husbands and wives esteem one another, where children learn discipline, and where loving mom’s and dad’s seek to shepherd their childrens hearts, so they know and follow Christ.  Give us homes, Lord, where by Your grace children they are becoming godly.  May our children find it easy to obey, as part of  their worship of the Christ in whom they believe.

 In Jesus name we pray.

Amen."

Circle Graph vs. Bar Graphs

Today we were able to look at circle graphs and bar graphs together to see how they show the same information in different ways.  It was so much fun to see all the little light bulbs going off in the student's minds.

Baby Pictures

Today in Bible we looked at the verses:

"God's thoughts to me outnumber the grains of sand on the earth!"  Psalm 139:18

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

We are doing a special assignment right now that needs a little extra help from you at home.  Please send in a baby picture of your sweet child tomorrow.  Please try to make it younger than one year.   Also make sure it is one that we can glue onto a piece of paper.  We don't want you to loose your treasured memories, so a copy of a picture might be best.  When we are completed we will let you know what to do next.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements!

Junior High Cross Country

Last night Mr. Searle and I had the opportunity to go to the Cross Country Meet.  It was at Chastain Park.  The course was very difficult, up and down hills...steep hills.  We were very impressed and excited to see how well the Heiskell team ran.  They finished in 4th place overall.  Way to go Heiskell Eagles!

Bruster's Go To Washington D.C.

We went to Washington D.C. for my sister's soccer tournament.  It is called the WAGS Tournament, and her team won the tournament.

We was also visited the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian and the White House.  We ran out of time to go to the Lincoln Memorial...so Dad can we go back?

PLEASE, sign you and your son up for Father son retreat if you haven't already!  It will be a wonderful time of fellowship with your son, and other Dads.

What a wonderful way for your son to spend a weekend!  I encourage you to drop what you are doing that weekend and go to the father son retreat!

Psalm 91

Security of the One Who Trusts in the LORD.
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
          Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say to the L
ORD, “My refuge and my fortress,
          My God, in whom I trust!”

3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
          And from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with His pinions,
          And under His wings you may seek refuge;
          His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
          Or of the arrow that flies by day;

6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
          Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.

7 A thousand may fall at your side
          And ten thousand at your right hand,
          But it shall not approach you.

8 You will only look on with your eyes
          And see the recompense of the wicked.

9 For you have made the L
ORD, my refuge,
          Even the Most High, your dwelling place.

10 No evil will befall you,
          Nor will any plague come near your tent.

11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
          To guard you in all your ways.

12 They will bear you up in their hands,
          That you do not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
          The young lion and the serpent you will trample down.

14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
          I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.

15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
          I will be with him in trouble;
          I will rescue him and honor him.

16 “With a long life I will satisfy him
          And let him see My salvation.”

It Is About Time To Bundle Up!

As Fall approaches and the the weather cools, please do a name check on all of your child's belongings. We are still learning responsibility in second grade, and sometimes we misplace our belongings. If all of your child's items are properly labeled it will help to greatly increase the chances of that item's safe return. Check the brief list below to make sure that everything is clearly and properly labeled (permanent ink works best). Let's help the kiddos hang on to those things you work so hard to provide for them.

coat/fleece
sweater
scarf
gloves/mittens
uniform blazer
